STePP Africa and Asian Industrial Vocational Training Programme: Environmentally Friendly End-of-Life Vehicle Recycling Technical Training

UNIDO ITPO Tokyo, in cooperation with the Government of Japan, has launched the “Industrial Vocational Training Programme in Africa and Asia through Technology Transfer from Japan”. The programme aims to transfer the technology and knowledge of Japanese companies to local engineers and vocational trainees in Africa and Asia, contributing to human resource development and sustainable industrial development in those countries. As a partner in this project, Kaiho Sangyo Co., Ltd. conducted a month training program in November 2024 for two trainees from Kenya. The training aimed instruct participants in automobile recycling technology and support the development of the recycling industry in Kenya.

The program welcomed participants Mr. John Mutisya and Mr. Samson Okoth from Nairobi Technical Training Institute. After completing a month training, a closing ceremony was held on November 23, attended Ambassador Moi Lemoshira of the Embassy of the Republic of Kenya, Takayuki Kondo, CEO of Kaiho Sangyo Co., Ltd., and Hideki Murakami, Deputy Director of the UNIDO ITPO Tokyo Office.  

As the next stage of the program, on-site vocational training in Kenya is scheduled for implementation in February 2025. Updates on this program will be shared on the project page as needed.
