Ukrainian Trainees yield excellent business plan creation results.
After two successful rounds of the Entrepreneurship Development Training Programme for Ukrainian Women and Youth in Japan in June and September 2024, funded by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), and as an overall effort of UNIDO ITPO Tokyo in collaboration with UNIDO ITPO Bahrain to strengthen the capacities of women and youth from Ukraine in Japan by providing entrepreneurial skills and the know-how for creating new business.
Once again, UNIDO ITPO Tokyo has partnered with Japanese companies with the aim of providing UNIDO trainees with an opportunity to put the newly acquired entrepreneurial skills to practice in two additional rounds.

About the Training Programme:
Spanning three weeks (3rd to 21st February 2025 – 2nd round, 6th to 27th March – 3rd round), the traineeship programme offered comprehensive training and assistance of Japanese companies through guidance and support, as well as hands-on experience in drafting and presenting a viable business plan.
The traineeship involved 7 companies and 9 Ukrainian trainees, resulting in 9 innovative business plans.
The second and third rounds of the traineeship concluded with the submission of a finalised business plan to UNIDO ITPO Tokyo, followed by an online reporting session with UNIDO ITPO Tokyo staff, the trainees and their supervisors where the developed business plans were presented.
Training Programmes in Brief:
Broadford Limited
Broadford Limited is a marketing research and consulting company located in Tokyo.
During this training, UNIDO Trainee Y.L., who is also a graduate student majoring in international security, worked on a business plan for the international security and public safety equipment manufacturing sector in Japan.
“During this traineeship, I have learnt first-hand business experience in my desired style of research activities and B2B communication in a Japanese business environment. So I can now understand how B2B communication and initial discussions look like and how exchange of experiences happens in formal atmosphere.” – Y.L.

Concept Works
Concept Works specializes in consulting services for entrepreneurs and small businesses through the power of storytelling, mainly through publishing, workshops and coaching/consulting services.
During this training, UNIDO Trainee, Y. V. S. worked on a business plan for disseminating an acclaimed entrepreneurship book for solo entrepreneurs in Japan in the global market.

Hinode Sangyo
Hinode Sangyo, located in Yokohama, specialises in the implementation of advanced water treatment facilities.
During this training, three UNIDO trainees, O.A., I.C., and Y.K. worked on a business plan for implementation of Hinode Sangyo’s patented technologies in Ukraine, in areas struck by water scarcity with the aim of providing cost-effective water solutions.
“I interacted with visitors and other companies, learned more deeply about regional technology and possibilities. I also learned about marketing and public relations aspects of the business. Also, I made connections with local and foreign companies and government staff.” – O.A.
“I gained knowledge of advanced Japanese technologies in the field of water treatment and had the opportunity to work with modern equipment for treatment and monitoring. I also got a deeper understanding of the principles of environmental safety and energy efficiency in water treatment systems.” – I. C.
“I had the opportunity to work in a laboratory and I was able to understand the stages of purification and inspected one of the objects of a working purification system.” – Y.K.
Japan Development Service Co., Ltd. (JDS)
JDS is a consulting company based in Tokyo which offers a wide range of services, including the introduction of Japanese experts to overseas private enterprises, business assistance for overseas enterprises, studies and consultancy relating to ODA (Official Development Assistance), translation/interpretation/documentation and job placement, among other things.
UNIDO Trainee S.O. worked on a business plan based on the implementation of AR/VR technology in the field of architecture and construction, for both businesses and consumers, offering a service which enables the visualisation, remote collaboration and customisation in real-time.

KRAFTWERK CO., LTD
Kraftwerk Co. Ltd., based in Tochigi prefecture, specialises in heat exchange technology, utilizing underground water to provide sustainable heating and cooling solutions.
UNIDO Trainee O.R. worked on a business plan on implementing Kraftwerk’s sustainable heat exchange technology to be implemented in greenhouses and schools in Ukraine which still rely on fossil fuels.

WOTA Corp.
WOTA is a company specialising in autonomous water purification and recycling systems located in Tokyo.
UNIDO Trainee Y.O. worked on a business plan on establishing a water technology solutions distribution in Ukraine, especially in war-affected regions where water infrastructure was destroyed pr damaged, through implementing WOTA’s proprietary technology – the WOTA Box.
“Throughout the program, under the guidance of my internship supervisor, I learned how to build a business strategy, calculate expenses and revenues for establishing and running a business, and I also experienced first-hand how the water purification process system operates.” Y.O.
OUTSOURCING Inc.
OUTSOURCING Inc., based in Tokyo, is an outsourcing company specialising in providing high-quality workers in the engineering, manufacturing and service industries.
UNIDO Trainee N.K. worked on a business plan of developing an inclusive application for food delivery for people with disabilities and the elderly.

I explored the hiring process, the key aspects companies consider when recruiting employees, and how organizations strive to align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as how the company integrates Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) into its business practices.” N.K.
