Mr. Aschalew, as a team leader of investment promotion at EIC, presents Ethiopia’s investment policies and opportunities to foreign and domestic investors. He is also involved in capacity building programmes for local enterprises as well as strategies to attract potential investors in particular for manufacturing and agriculture & agribusiness sectors.

Promotional Activities in Japan

During his stay in Tokyo, he visited potential investors and Japanese companies operating in Ethiopia, and provided tailor-made advice to each counterpart for their further consideration and progress of business in Ethiopia. A round-table meeting with over 20 representatives of Japanese companies was also held in the presence of H.E. Mr. Cham Ugala Uriat, Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to Japan on 24 January at the United Nations University, where Mr. Aschalew explained about business climate and opportunities in Ethiopia.

After UNIDO’s investment promotion programme, he participated in JICA’s training programme in Japan, and Ethiopia Business Investment Seminar held in Nagoya on 7 February.
