On Tuesday, April 25, UNIDO ITPO Tokyo will hold an online seminar on Ethiopian Coffee.
Ethiopia is Africa’s number one coffee-producing country and is said to be the birthplace of Arabica coffee. Ethiopian coffee is very popular in Japan and is the fourth largest coffee bean importer in Japan after Brazil, Vietnam, and Colombia.
Coffee is also an important industry for Ethiopia, with more than 20% of the economically active population said to be employed in coffee-related industries. Half of the coffee produced is consumed domestically, and the other half is exported, providing a crucial source of foreign currency income in a country that is short of foreign currency.
The seminar will feature speakers from the Ethiopia Federal Coffee and Tea Authority (an institution formed to support, guide, protect, and empower the development of the coffee, tea, and spice industry) and leading Ethiopian companies, who will discuss not only green coffee bean refining and roasting, but also local production of high value-added products, specialty coffees, and coffee quality inspection.
Please register and join us.
